4 needle knitting hat, fingerless gloves

Well, as I work on a few different computers, I find my photos are sprinkled here and there...I ran across these photos of finished 5th grade projects from last year. I believe the hat was entered in the CA state fair and won 1st place in its category !!!

Hi....oh, so I soaked the skeins in water with vinegar which I did not measure overnight. I used the undyed worsted wool from Brown Sheep. Then we dumped the huge bucked and hung the wool to drip, but not dry, then put on table with plastic covering. I used food dye in red, blue, yellow and green (could do without the green, but it came in the package) I talked to them about colour and not to use opposite colour on the colour wheel, but that it would be beautiful no matter what...and also, too much dye is a bad idea. then we picked it up, put it in a big zip lock baggy with their name on it (I have 30 students in this class!!!!) and placed on the black top in the sun where it steamed for a couple of hours, then we dipped it twice in cool clean water and hung up to dry quickly in california on a hot day!!! and viola!!! I would use more like 20 or more drops per 1/3 cup of water if you want deeper colours...also it is a good idea to leave some spaces undyed .... this really had a good result!!!!!
